Love for my son

As I worked on preparing dinner last night, I quietly (okay maybe not too quietly!) observed Jesse and Taeden working on his Native American project for school my heart was beaming with pride.  Taeden had a visit to the dentist where he was told he had zero cavities!  Did I mention he will shortly be turning NINE years old.  Man, I am pretty sure I had half a mouth full of cavities by that age (nothing to be proud of, but limited adult supervision and guidance people!!)  Taeden's main chore is to walk our beagle Sally.  As I stood in our kitchen and looked out the back door.  I saw my little man running with Sally and he looks so darn big.  My heart sang, he is such a great kid.  He is so thoughtful and loving, well-behaved, straight A student - how lucky am I!  I love the fact that when I mentioned Christmas will be small so we can save for Disneyland his response was, "that is fine, I don't really need anything, but Santa can still get me some things!"  The best part about this is I think he is beginning to question the reality of Santa.  Slowly but surely my little boy is becoming a big boy.  He has stopped sleeping with "Julia", his stuffed animal my sister gave him when he was three.  He took that to every sleep over he had until he was five years old, maybe longer.  As time has gone by, Julia has not been forgotten, but has been dressed up in a dress that was originally bought for our dog Sally, and has found a pretty permanent spot in the bin. (pictures soon to come, if I can figure out how to add!)  So, whenever I get upset about something superficial or annoyed about my job, really all I have to do is think about what a great son I have.  Taeden, I love you more than you will ever know!
